Thinking of planting some running bamboos in a area about 20'x 20'.

Side 1 is next to the house with concrete slab foundation.

side 2 is next to a concrete patio.

side 3 and 4 are concrete block walls, behind the walls are lawn maintained by HOA.

There will be a 8x12 concrete patio in the center of the 20x20.

Thinking of putting plastic barriers along side 1,2,3&4 As I don't want the bamboo to escape and invade the common area.

Questions:

1. Do I need barriers to protect the concrete patio in the center?

2. How long do the barriers last? In my case, one installed, replacing service would be difficult.

3. Looking for short 10ft -15ft type that are sun loving, heat and drought tolerating bamboo for Southern California desert. Any suggestions?
