Need a little help deciding

I know nothing about bamboo. I have an area on a 10 foot high fence that needs some cover/personality. I saw on Paul James Show (The Gardener Guy) a technique using fireplace tile buried in the ground to contain the roots so that it wouldn't spread under and to the neighbors side of the property line. Does that work? The area tends to hold water more than I would like after a rain. What type of bamboo would you choose for this application in NW Arkansas, Zone 6.

Planting in concrete flue tiles is a commonly recommended method of controlling runners. I've not done it, but I suspect it works just fine.
