Bamboo Screen

I am interested in installing some bamboo along a cinder block wall down my driveway (about 25 feet long) which will require cutting the concrete. My goal is to give the bamboo enough room to thrive as well as preserve as much of the with of my driveway as possible. I feel that i can sacrifice about 18" of space. My question is is this enough space for a tall limber bamboo like Bambusa oldhamii to thrive. If there is enough room how far apart would you recommend spacing 1 gallon plants.

Thank you in advance.
