So, here's the plan. I just got two nice specimins of Golden Bamboo in 5gal pots. I'm REALLY excited to start growing bamboo, as I have many fond memories running through groves in Hawai'i as a kid.

Anyways, my idea is to build/buy a trough to stretch along the longest side of the porch, (which gets all-day sun). I'm thinking of making it 18-20 deep and wide, and the length of the porch long. I'd plant the culms in the trough, and let the runners send up new culms throughout the rest of the trough. Thoughts? Suggestions?

Oh, and how long would I be able to keep the culms in the 5gals they came in? I may not be able to build this for a bit of time, and would still like them to grow. They're not super-crowded in them yet.
