Bamboo Shooting in Late August?????

Hi Everybody--- Hope you are having a great summer!!

I planted 16 1 gal. phyllostachys Atrovaginata back in April. They put up new shoots in June and have been very green and thriving all summer long -- even through a stretch of 24 straight days over 90 F. In the last week, I've noticed more new shoots that are coming out diagonally from the original plants, and are curving upward.

I am new to bamboo, and am wondering if this new growth, late in the season is normal? I have not fertilized at all, but have been watering every 2nd or 3rd day. The bamboo looks very happy...

Anyway, just curious if new growth in late August is normal...

Tom
