What do you mean by "tempering" it? Are you saying you want to dry it and use it for some purpose, or what?

Can't wait for the answer to this.... for making bamboo flutes the curing process can be very extensive and somewhat complicated, heating over a smoky fire, wiping exuded oils, heating again, wiping, etc., being careful not to burn or scorch it.... a neighbor with TONS of cut canes has them in misc. piles, and they just rot and turn black... rapid drying will probably crack them.... again, someone who knows will hopefully chime in soon.
