It looks like Bambusa vulgaris 'Vittata' PAINTED BAMBOO.

There are a few other possibilities, but the new shoots in your pictures look a bit different.

If you dig one yourself, dig one that is older, or one that has limbs and has leaved-out already. The younger culms won't fare as well.

Dig as much of a rootball as you can, and you can cut the tip of the culm off for ease during transporting. Keep the roots moist from the time of digging to transplanting.

From a single culm division, you should have a very nice plant in a couple to three years, especially in your warm climate.

Thank you so much. I googled it and it does look like the same bamboo. This is a nursery so I will return and see if they will dig culms specifically for me and I can pick which ones. Very good info on picking older ones that have leafed out.

This one is also propagated by stem cuttings. What we usually see of this plant here is a cut section of culm with branches, growing in a pot.

Will it grow as fast from stem cuttings? That's the main way I have seen it planted here too. Very tall stem cuttings with a few branches. I haven't seen it later though to know how well it did. Do you think one way is better than the other for quick growth? These will be in the ground.
