I've got three potted boos - one indoor and 2 outdoor. For all I started with a layer of black cinder and broken terra cotta pottery shards in the bottom 2 inches of the pot. Then I mixed 1 part standard potting soil with 1/2 part black cinders and about 1/4 part vermiculite for the rest of the pot.

I fertilized initially with a light Miracle Grow solution once a week. Then about 3 weeks later sprinkled bone meal per package instructions to encourage root development.

When they are actively putting out culms I sprinkle blood meal(high nitrogen) per package instructions about once every 2 weeks.

I'm no expert on boos, but my outdoor boos are doing great. The indoor one is having trouble. It puts out culms but they grow very slowly and don't get very tall.

Thanks. I actually took my bamboo outside because it looked very unhappy inside.

I'll try to repot it w/ur potting mix and see if it does a little better.
