yellowing leaves of Phyllostachys Aurea

I have a screen/hedge of the tallest bamboo I could find. My garden is on chalk with plenty of good topsoil. My Phyllostachys Aurea are growing vigorously but drop yellow leaves all the time (they did not do this last year only for a bit in the spring), they mess up my lawn I have to rake it sometimes twice a day! There is a very low wall behind some of them otherwise they get lots of sun, I do not have a problem with them creeping out of the bed in which I planted them. Can they be overwatered? Or not enough water? or overcrowded? Any idea as to why they continue to drop leaves?
