I'm referring to Mexican Weeping Bamboo

Ok...then we're talking about Otatea acuminata aztecorum, which is a very nice-looking bamboo. This bamboo gets to about 15-20' high. All Otateas are clumpers, but fall in the category of "open clumpers," which means they can spread out at the base a little more than standard clumpers, but not cause the unpredictable problems that one encounters with running bamboo. If you are talking about maintaining it in a 15' X 15' space, I don't think you will have a problem, since you can just cut down new culms if they start growing outside your preferred area (it won't harm the plant). However, since the form of this bamboo is weeping, you may find that you will need to sometimes take out desirable culms that sit a fair ways back because their tops lean too far out.
