P. Nigra in ful shade for four months

Hello all!

I'm new not only to bamboo but to gardening. I planted two 8 feet tall P. Aurea and three 5 foot tall P. Nigra two months back. All look hardy :) However now that the sun is getting lower in the sky, the P. Nigra is virtually in constant shade. :( I suspect it will be this way for the next four months. The are is fairly well sheltered so I'm not worried about cold temps but how will the constant shade affect the P. Nigra? Also will the plants more or less double in overall volume in the next year? I know there are lots of variables. I am just looking for a rough anser. Thanks for all the help I've recieved by reading posts!

The nigra will be fine; smaller shoots in large groves are in shade all of the time. As for plants that have only been in the ground 2 months doubling in size by next year, you're probably being too optimistic...too many variables, but could take 1-3 years. Besides, you give no clue where you live or what your climate is, so that makes it especially difficult.
