where did you find bamboo on clearance in Mi?

You will find that your answer will depend entirely upon what kind of bamboo you have bought.

I bought a growncover variegated boo last fall (also on clearance, this time of year) and I planted one in the ground and the other I kept potted indoors until spring. Both of them have done fine, though I think the one I kept potted has established itself better.

I found some at Grosse Ile Marketplace. They have fargesia rufa for $35, and I just bought some tall yellow groove from Jim at Michigan Bamboo Company. He told me that it wasn't too late to plant.

If the bamboo you are planting is hardy to that zone, you can plant bamboo in the ground up til the ground freezes. WHich means when you go to dig, you won't be able to dig into the ground, it will be too hard.
