Bayer Advanced Tree & Shrub and less of everything else (e.g. water, fertilizer, manure). What is sun exposure there?

Oh really? So you think I'm giving them too much love? This did cross my mind also. They get a lot of sun there. At least the whole morning. So your thinking less watering? Should I switch to everyother day or even less? I recently started to throw in coffee grounds, assuming I should stop this too? Thanks in advance

I'm curious about the "less of everything" recommendation. Could you say more about that.

I'm in San Diego too. How much water are you giving your plants? We're on restriction right now.

I have since gone with the less of evrything and I applied the Bayer this past weekend. We'll see how it goes.

I used to grow Alphonse Karr in my greenhouse, because my winter climate is just a bit too chill for the plant to survive all winter outdoors, even in the ground. I would periodically have to spray the plant with an insecticidal soap or neem oil because it looked just like yours. I think, for some reason, that this particular bamboo is more susceptible to mealy bugs and fungus. Kept under control, the plant will not be damaged, but it's annoying when it starts looking like that.

Looks like even on new growth tips are brown

Bamboo can be sensitive to chlorinated and fluoridated water. also too much or too little water. any of these will cause the brown tips and die off. It is pretty hard to over water Alphonse Karr. Here in Florida it rains pretty much every day in the summer and my Alphonse Karr is doing fine. I think they would have to be in standing water to cause root rot.
