Your link doesn't work. However, I can tell you that what you're probably referring to is Tortoise shell bamboo, which is Phyllostachys edulis heterocycla. Check out the link below to compare to the stuff you saw.

Thanks for the various information. I was at Anji China. I have 10 kinds of bamboos all in large pots. They are arranged to enclose a small area 8x14' conversation patio in my backyard. I do not have Tortoise Shell Bamboo yet.

You're probably unlikely to have any true Tortoise shell soon. It's extremely rare in the U.S. and the last time one of these changed hands here it sold for $7000.
