Phyllostachys aurea

I planted 10-5 gallon Phyllostachys aurea plants (5'~7' high) two months ago. First I dug 24"(w) x 30"(d) trench and used the mixture of planting mix and compost to fill the trench with membrane root barrier on one side. Secondly I created about 1' high mound, so that the other side of the root barrier is elevated from the natural grade for easier pruning,

and that I covered the whole area with mulch(2"~3" depth). I planted roughly 5' O.C. I water these plants everyday to the point where some mushrooms grow out in the area from time to time. I see some rhizome growth between plants, but the plants don't seem to grow in height. Is it normal, or am I doing something wrong?
