Live & learn. I staked up 2yr old kiwi vines but I only used one pole. I picked a mature, heavy pole well cured thinking that was enough... until disaster struck. On first notice I thought someone had used pruning sheers until I realized there was sawdust and a bore hole. I guess some kind of wasp- sure does make a precision cut.
