Hi. I planted a start of Vivax (running, timber) bamboo last year. This spring, I had several new, healthy culms pop up and they seem to be doing well.

Here's the odd part... A couple weeks ago, I noticed what appear to be new shoots near the base of the other culms. I though it was pretty odd to be seeing new shoots in the fall, but it gets even stranger...

The shoots are growing horizontally. (parallel to the ground) They are basically running along the surface of the ground.

Has anybody run in to this before?
