Weeds?

I have a Black bamboo in a pot and I cannot tell if I have weeds or if it is spreading. The shoot is very similar, but the leaves are very long and does not look like the rest of the plant. Any help or pictures of very young black would be greatly appricated.

Pull hard on the base of the new, leafy growth: if it pulls out or breaks, it's weeds; if it doesn't, it's probably bamboo. Generally, a new culm will get quite tall before it leafs out, so I suspect you have weeds. If you post a picture, it should be easy to determine...

Yeah, They didn't pull out at all. I have recently transplanted it and they appeared to be connected to the rhizomes. I am not sure of this, but they didn't look anything like the picture. thanks for the help tho.
