Propogation of Bamboo in SE Mich

I have 4 types of Bamboo. 1 smaller decorative yellow/green varigated colors, 1 6-8' native bamboo, and then 2 other larger types. I believe 1 is yellow grove and the other a very hardy tall darker green variety each with a 1/2" to 1.5" stalk.

All 4 do quite well in SE Michigan climate (zone 6b) with no winter protection.

MY QUESTION: How can I get the larger 2 varieties to propogate to the maximum potential? When I ordered these 2 types, they each had one of the stalks circularly wrapped around the rim (but under the surface of the dirt). They expanded quite rapidly and I'd like to know if I can do a similar thing (bury 1 or 2 stems under the ground before winter) and get greater propogation.

Any one want to take a stab at this???
