Bamboo leaves yellowing

Hi,

I bought some bamboo last weekend. It was dug from ground, put in a bucket of water. But I don't see any rhizomes connected with the plant, just the normal root, like the 2nd picture titled "Typical Bamboo Root System Seen in the Phyllostachys Genus" in this website:

After I plant them in potting soil + just a little bit of composted chicken manure + rice hull (I heard it contains N which is very good for "grass") on Tuesday morning, I've noticed significant yellowing of the leaves.

This makes me wonder if the bamboo was dug out correctly for transplanting? Do I need the rhizomes, or does this type have it?

I really want these bamboo to thrive. Would you please advice?

April
