fading Fargesia Murielae bring inside?

Help!! I have a fading Fargesia Murielae, and I am wondering if I should bring it inside for winter. Theoretically, it should be fine with a little cover for my climate (zone 5), but it was a sad specimin when I planted it in mid June. It was in a gallon pot and had a fair number of roots, but not much top growth (maybe 10-12" in height and width). It hasn't done much since then but stay alive, and now it seems to be fading fast (mostly leafless, only a few green leaves). Can it tolerate being potted up and brought inside, or should I take a chance on it surviving the winter outside? Just FYI, this has been a crummy year for most plants in my clime. Even my veggie garden did poorly--except for the cukes!
