My moso is yellowing & some of the culms are loosing leaves & turning brown. They are not old culms & some of them sprouted this year. The patch is 6 years old with some that are 3 inches thick. Why is this happening? It is through out the patch.I fertilized in early spring & have put lots of mulch since then.It has lots of rain & watering when needed. This has been going on all summer. How can I get it green again?????????????????????

Mine is also turning yellow-green. It is not a healthy green as my other bamboo. If you find out please let me know how to correct this. cdfixer@earthlink.net

My Moso never gets deep green leaves and always turns even more yellowish at this time of the year.

It has never adversely affected the plant, but it does make it look sick.

Not sure what the problem is. High nitrogen fertilizer helps green-up the leaves, but it doesn't like heavy fertilizer.

My grove is small and about 10 years old.

I have noticed that Moso seems more temperamental than other species and are quite quick to yellow, and relatively quick to go into decline when not happy. Don't know what there problem is as I don't see this in other species of Phyllostachys, other temperate species, or tropical species such as Bambusa.

My Moso seedling are about 5 to 6 in tall, I've had them in doors in a make shift green house, transparent storage box from wal mart 1' 1/2 x 2'x 3',for about a month now. I've taken the cover off so the plant get fresh air. I mist often. the leaf are turning yellow. I read somewhere that when the plants are this big, I should trans plant to a bigger pot and place outside in a shaded area with moisture ( bowls of water ). I,ve place several of my plants in shaded area of my yard and I will get back to you all if this helps.

They definitely appreciate being outdoors in full sun. I've had mine for 3 years, and it dies back every winter just to come back a little taller each year, and it's tallest culms are near 8ft now. It also always turns dark green once it is fully leafed out.

I don't think they really need misting or extra humidity because mine used to leaf curl a bit in the summer, but not anymore. They leaves I see this year are also way smaller than they were the previous years due to larger culms.
