You might want to ask this in the Ornamental Grasses forum. Despite the name, Bamboo Mughly is not a bamboo.

Yes, not a true bamboo, bamboo muhly is an tender evergreen ornamental grass (well, bamboo is an ornamental grass too.....just a very big one in most cases :-))

Since it is not hardy in your climate, it can't stay outdoors but living indoors will not be to its liking either. You can keep it in temporarily but best sell it ASAP, although I doubt anyone local will find it useful. Wonder where you aunt bought it......why would they sell it in your area?

Thanks very much for the responses...my aunt bought it from a bamboo store online. She did ask the owner for a "bamboo that would thrive in zone 5". I'm truly sad that I can't save it. Hopefully someone will buy it. I'll list it online and offer free shipping.

Although its been an unusually warm fall, I'll wait till spring to buy and plant a REAL bamboo, the panda.
