bamboo i.d.

I was given a bamboo "start" last year. it was just the lower part of a culm without any roots or rizome about 2 inches in diameter. The bottom few inches was covered with lot's of bumps that I assume became roots after I planted it. It has grown well for two summers and shoots very late. The last culm just came up and is over an inch in diameter. I'm fairly sure it is some kind of open clumper. The cane walls are very thick and some of the leaves are nearly 8 inches long. It has several branches with the center one being the biggest and one on each side not quite as big, and about a dozen smaller ones in between. the cane is green and the culm sheath seems to hang on a long time. Any idea what kind I have? Sorry no pics (I havn't figured out how to post them)
