Where did you get this? It sounds like you were sent a plant that wasn't healthy or wasn't stabilized after it was divided. Healthy bamboo should not look like that any time of the year.

Yep, I got it through the post. The company has said that they would replace them however I was hoping to revive these ones because they haven't asked for them back. Is there anything I can do to help them?

As for revival, you can plant these and treat them as is they were healthy (normal water and light), and see if there is any new growth by next summer. Since I don't know your winter conditions, though, it's hard to tell you whether they can be planted out safely now.

I'm in North East England, UK. Probably Zone 6b

Zone 6B gets down to about minus 18C to minus 20C, and that's definitely marginal for black bamboo, especially in an unhealthy condition. Can you pot these up and keep them inside in a well-lit location for the winter, or maybe an unheated greenhouse?

I think I got the wrong zone!! minus 5 max. I'll put em in a greenhouse.

I presume it is Ph. nigra (rather than one of the tropical blacks) in which case where you are it probably doesn't matter whether you put it in the greenhouse or not. I would have planted in the ground when it arrived but if you have it in the greenhouse just leave it there.
