Bamboos in Puerto Rico

I recently visited the south eastern coast of Puerto Rico and was amazed at the amount of huge bamboo groves growing everywhere. Does anyone know what this variety is that grows so rampid?

Probably the same that I saw in Jamaica, Bambusa vulgaris.

Literally "common" bamboo that is common in the most tropics all around the world.

Bamboos grow in all areas of the island where rivers or any other water source is present. I don't know what are their origins though.
