Hardy Bamboo in high wind areas?

I live in the foothill area (with high winds in the spring), but would LOVE to use some short to medium sized bamboo in my yard. We're a zone 6b... does anyone know a bamboo that would handle these conditions? I can irrigate if need be, too.

There is a grower in Utah that could help you out. I will have to find his website and get back to you.

None of them appreciate drying or cold winds and will look (and perhaps sound) unhappy in exposed positions. Now, there may be quite a few that will grow on that part of your site, it depends on what level of growth and appearance you will find adequate. Up here there are even bamboo hedges growing right off of saltwater beaches - and they look like it.
