Pl. humilis can get 6'-7' high. I've seen pictures of Pl. distichus 'Mini," but haven't seen it for sale. I have planted the regular Pl. distichus and it quickly grew to 2'+ and was very aggressive...probably the most aggressive runner of all my bamboo. I finally had to remove it with a pickaxe because -- after one year -- four, one-gallon pots had expanded to completely fill a 6' X 12' area on a hillside and was crowding everything else out.

Dave - I have a 2 gal pl. pygmaeus. ABS has it at max 2 ft. The mother plant that I have had for about 5 yrs is less than a ft. Willing to trade for 2 , 1 gals of the bissetti. Rgds Fred

Is the Pl. distichus a good looking bamboo? I have an area out near the road that I wouldn't mind a nice ground cover bamboo to take over.

The pictures I found on the internet don't really show me much.

It's nice if you want to cover an area pretty densely with a low-growing, bushy bamboo. The culms are not large (1/8"), so it's mainly a mass of leaves. I'd post a picture, but I didn't think to take one before I tore mine out!
