Help Identifying Bamboo (new one)

Here I go again. I bought this bamboo from someone on ebay of course saying it's MOSO. The culm is about 2 1/2" and very thick walled. The skips shoots(not sure of the term) came up in December and were very maroon red (tipcolor of picture three in slide show) I covered them with dirt as it was in the low 20's overnight in my back yard. They lost their deep red color and striation of cream. But I think you can imagine what they looked like by picture 4) The leaves are large around 7+ inches on the one cane that came up from the root ball in the summer. That cane has a slight zig zag to it. I forgot to post it. But my first guess was rubromarginata.(red margin) Help Please. I'll try to add the cane now to the slide show.

Maybe somebody mistook some P. bambusoides or another large kind for moso. Appearance of plant, what there is of it so far does resemble P. bambusoides. As for recognition via culm sheaths, probably need to show culm sheaths from large culms.

Despite the interest from bamboo hobbyists and probably much increased commercial availability, importations of seeds and so on moso is still a special find, not as likely to be encountered under everyday circumstances as some other kinds.

Thanks bboy. You're probably correct on the P. Bambusoides and it would be my luck also. As I just bought a 31" box of it this last weekend! Thanks we'll know in the spring!
