my ensete maurelii...tough as nails

Just an update folks. If I recall correctly, the last time I watered my ensete maurelii was mid October 2009. I remember, I dug it late September then placed them in the darkest area in the basement.

It's still alive. There are some damage on the leaves but it's still looking good. :)

That's great to know!!...Mine are in my slightly heated greenhouse...They did suffer some leaf damage when it got down to 26' in there (it got 8' outside) so I just cut those leaves off...They seem to be doing ok now though.

Good luck with yours!!

Mine are in a cold garage. Two winters ago it got down to 32 F. inside the garage and they froze. I panicked and brought them in. No problem, the ice melted and the leaves started to grow. I almost brought them into the warm house today but holding off a bit as it was cold outside and want to transplant into containers and get them started on a milder day. I did bring the Chinese banana in and the Japanese basjoo which is already pushing nice growth.

Cool! I'm just amazed since I have not taken care of them really well. As compared last year, I had a hard maintaining them in first floor.

Hey Sandy,

I can't believe how tough they are. I remember I dug them really early, about a month early. They're not getting water but it still looks good, just some minor leaf damage.

Thanks for dropping by! :)
