I have a banana tree that fell over

Someone gave me a couple of banana trees that weren't growing at their place. I planted them about a foot or so from the house on the east side. It is 8ft from the house to the wooden privacy fence so it's kind of a sheltered area. They have grown very nicly for me. They started out about 2 1/2 and 3 ft tall and are now about 4 1/2 and 6 ft tall. We had a cold front come though here last weekend and apparently the high winds blew over the taller tree. I didn't notice until several days later. I tryed replanting it but it is so tall and heavy now it fell over again. How do I keep it from falling over again until it secures itself enough to stay up? After temps going all the way down to the low 30's it has probably gone dormant on me now.

Should I cut off all the brown leaves and the ones that bent over from the wind?

I have no idea what kind of banana it is. I haven't had them long enough for any flowers or fruit yet.

Thanks for any help,

Sue
