Banana plant soil.

I live in eastern Oregon and have soil that has a lot of clay in it. It's nice because it holds water. But, do I need to mix in sand or something for bananas?

RE: Banana plant soil.

My large ensete bananas do great in common garden soil, but it would always help to add as much humus and organic matter as you can, and a little sand so that they drain well.
