lackluster banana results

Hi all,

I purchased a "Banana Plant" (unknown cultivar) at either Home Depot or Loewes in the spring of 2005. I live in the Atlanta,GA area, so I drag it outside in April, and back inside in October.

Overwinter it sits in my cathedral ceilinged living room near a south window - plenty of light. It is about 5' high and has produced 2 side plants about 3' high. So far, I haven't seen any hint of flowers/fruit in the 2 years I've had it (should it have in that time period?). I have been using basic Miracle-Gro during the active period outdoors, which gives me plenty of growth, but nothing during the winter except watering it.

So, I have two questions

(1) Is it worth trying to get this to bloom/fruit, and how?

(2) What varieties would give decent fruit results in this type of culture (potted, seasonal indoor/outdoor)

Thanks

Bruce
