My practice is to cut the pseudostem down. I've had the whole corm rot from a half cut stalk before.

If you cut the main stack while it is green you can use a butchers knife. If it is dry you probably will have to use some type saw to bring it down. If they start to rot you need to cut it off before it reaches the root or lose the plant. Cut them off close to the ground and if you have lots of rain at an angle for the rain to drain off.

I bought 2 plants, I got one smaller one and one bigger one. When they arrived they were just trunks. I bought 2 different sizes wondering if paying the extra money for the plant was worth it. At this time they still kind of look like trunks and don't show much sign of life. I was wondering if the trunk will come back or if it will just grow from the bottom? After about a month I now have 2 leaves that have come from the bottom of the plant.If it is going to grow from the bottom only, the extra for the larger plant is not worth it.
