cigar end rot

I had read somewhere that using all parts of the banana plant, from leaves to fruit, as compost or mulch was good because it offered some potassium to the soil. So I have been throwing my banana peels on the pile. While at the grocery store, I bought some "baby" bananas, small, cute, w/a little tartness to them. The issue is they are suffering from what I would ID as cigar end rot? Dark rotting look at the flower(?)end. To eat is no problem, just cut off the bad part. My question is, will adding these peels to the soil add cigar rot virus to the soil?

thanks for the info,

-Ethan
