Is there any banana I could grow in 6b, North GA, that might produce fruit? I don't have room to bring them indoors in winter.
thanks |

| No bananas could be grown outside in 6b in winter. Even Basjoo could not endure the winter. So I recommend you to grow in pots super dwarf cavendish |
|
| Petite Naine is another very short variety. If you are going to grow them outside you would need an insulated, heated shelter in place from before the first frost in the fall until after the last frost in the spring. You would have to keep the temperature inside the shelter above 50*F. This will be a very expensive proposition. |

| Basjoo will indeed survive a north GA winter if mulched properly. Of course, it's not edible. Look into M. velutina too. |

| I would grow dwarf cavendish as opposed to super dwarf cavendish for fruit. The super dwarf doesn't seem to be as productive as the regular dwarf. |

| Sure is fun to think about these things when it's so cold and misserable outside. I have basjoo in the yard. Got one four years ago and it seems to add a new corm or two every year. I have several hobby gardening interests and look forward to posting pics this year. Might even put my garden journal on-line here. Thanks for all of the info! |
