I recommend an Ice Cream Banana. They say these are supposed to have the best tasting bananas of all. And when I bought mine the tag said it was good all the way down to Zone 8 (for the Corm). As far as I know even 32 degrees (or even higher with frost) will significantly damage most any banana tree. Even Musa Basjoo cannot take it...the leaves always fry after the first good frost. My plan is to cut back the stalks for all of mine and hope they fruit this year.

It must be nice to live in Central or South FL where that probably is not even necessary!

So I presume in a zone 8 or 9 one just expects the plant to be frost-killed to the ground every winter? They will still make fruit?
