Orinoco - edible or not?

| Some reviews of the Orinoco's fruit suggest it is a "dessert" type banana, others say that those descriptions are optimistic, and it's really more of a plaintain.
Can someone clear me up? |

| It's a dessert banana that has it best flavor when allowed to ripen on the plant and is fully yellow. It can be picked green and cooked tostone style. Because of it's cold hardiness, it's the most commonly grown banana along the Gulf Coast and produces fruit annually once established, even if it encounters a freeze. However, for those of us along the Gulf Coast, there are other bananas we grow that we consider better tasting, like Ice Cream and Raja Puri. Steve |
