Blue Java is also known as Ice Cream. I don't know where in Canada you can get them. I am in Edmonton and I would not have anything shipped to me before April 30th. If a corm sits for several days in -5*C it could be damaged.

I have seen them at valleyview gardens, but they were very overpriced and I don't think they ship. The best bananas to grow in Canada are Musa basjoo, Musa sikkimensis, Musa orinoco and musella lasiocarpa. These 4 (especially orinoco) store well in winter. I have had 12 cultivars, most of which died including ice cream.

Yes, I have all these varieties. Petite naine do well indoors in winter, Dwarf orinoco are winners in every catagory and Super dwarf cavendish do best outdoors in summer.

Some US nurseries may ship to Canada but just so you know, may also charge for a phytosanitary certificate to be provided to import live plants into canada. This may add greatly to the cost of the plants. Also, some may have minimum order requirements, some extra shipping fees. In short, check into it before placing an order. I also imagine there is the risk that your plants might be held up for a bit at Canada customs, meaning the poor plants might go without water.
