Banana leaf & cooking ?

I was wanting to maybe try growing a banana.
Usually I buy banana leaf for cooking at an oriental grocery shop the package only says import from Thailand. These banana leaves are very fragrant. Now if I grow a normal banana plant can I use it in cooking or are some types of banana plants that have more scented fragrance than others ?

I have researched myself and never found anything related to a specific banana to use. I have cooked with Basjoo , Black Thia, and Ice Cream. Bannas.org has a thread about cooking. Look there. Look at Youtube also. I believe cooking with fresh leaves verses store bought is a little different. Youtube has some good videos about preparing fresh leaves for cooking.
