the accidental banana

A plant caught my eye the other day, which I thought was some type of philodendron similar to a red emerald variety. After buying, I got a strange feeling it wasn't what I thought.

Turns out, it's a banana tree. Since it was labeled 'tropical foliage' I have no idea what variety it is. It has vibrant all green leaves, except for one that is yellow, but which seems healthy so I'm assuming it's the way it is supposed to be. stem where the newest leaf is going to come in is a pinkish red.

My research is saying it needs a lot of light, moderate water, probably a pebble tray. is this a good start?

Also, some sources say i should add some vinegar to the water to adjust the pH level. Is this necessary?

Finally, what am I in for? Could this guy be several feet tall in a year?
