Brand new plant - Help!

I just bought a Dwarf Red banana plant on ebay. It came yesterday, and I am getting ready to go to Lowe's. The plant is about 6 inches tall with it's little 3" pot. I bought an 18" pot at Sam's Club yesterday. Too, much this early? What do I need? From the research I have done: Soil - 2 parts potting, 1 part perlite and 1 part sand. Fertilizer - 13-5-13 at every watering. Is all this accurate? Any suggestions? Thanks for your help!

Plant it in the 18" pot. What harm will it do. You will probably get pups sooner and you won't have to worry about shock when you would need to repot later
