Traumatized Basjoo

I'm moving and couldn't bare to leave my Basjoo's behind.
We tried to carefully dig up the root bundle (no stalks or leaves as winter is just ending) and I separated out the larger ones with a kitchen knife. Now they are planted separately at their new home.
The white, moist columns coming out of the roots broke off during the move. Were those their new stalks? Will they grow back? What kind of fertilizer can I give them that will help them recover from all my abuse?
Thanks!
