Banana question

I realize this question is not necessarily about a banana plant...but the fruit

I purchased at a local grocery store bananas that were labeled "cooking" bananas, by dole....they were all very green...

I have had them sitting on my counter top for over 2 weeks now, and they show very little sign of rippening, unlike the typical bananas that I buy....which barely last a week before they are over ripe.

I assumed that perhaps these "green" bananas were untreated? when cutting into/peeling them they were very hard as well...

any thoughts? comments?
