From my experience, nothing wrong will happens if you just
leave them as they are now.
If the inner structures of the fruit have been damaged, they will not ripen. On the other hand, if luckily they are not damaged, they will ripen.

So you can just give them time and see what will happen.

BE PATIENT!!!!! If they are not damaged they will ripen in time. If they are still green, they are most likely undamaged. When they are black and moldy, then give up.

Thanks. I will give them time and report out what I find. Sometimes the local paper garden "expert" gives advice beyond his real realm of expertise so I always take it with a grain of salt. I find collective experience in a forum like this is always more reliable.

Just from my own experience...

I have left fruit on a Tall Orinoco, and it appeared to be fine the next day after a light frost. After cutting it down, it never ripened properly at all. The basal end of the fruit turned black, then spread. I cut that portion off, and was still able to salvage a little bit of good banana.

Ditto fglavin, that happened on 1 of 4 bunches harvested the first freeze.
