Hmmm, One has a soft top

Hi folks. Most of my basjoo's made it throught he winter fine but I do have one (about 2" wide) that is soft at the top. I feel the side down and it's hard about halfway down the stalk. Should I just leave it alone or should I cut back to that area so there's no rotting taking place and the new growth can push through quickly?

Leave it alone unless it is blatantly stinky and brown. Within the mush there may be a healthy new leaf. Once the weather warms the plant will take care of itself. Be patient. New growth won't have a problem pushing through.
