The Ensetes do not produce edible fruit. I think it's difficult to get them to fruit and when they do, you wouldn't want to eat it, because it's full of seeds. These plants also get quite large. Scroll down to where you see a thread called Updated pictures... Edible bananas are all Musa, but not all Musa are edible. The common grocery store banana is a Musa Gran Nain, which is a Cavendish type. Take a look at Bananas.org for lots more info.

Thanks so much for the info! The packaging is very deceptive with pictures of bananas all over it. I contacted the company and they said I must have gotten an old kit. They are sending out free replacement seeds. Musa Velutina. Still I am interested in a grocery store banana. I'm wondering if such a tree would even do well in a container. I had no idea there was so much information out there. I will look into the link.
