I know nothing about Bananas

I'm in zone 10, & have a little banana "grove" in my yard. It consists of 4 large plants, all about 8' tall. Only one of those produced fruit (which is still on the tree, with a seedpod thing that is almost touching the ground). Three of the plants look to be older... leaves are a little more "roughed up" looking. The one with the fruit looks the youngest. It has to the direct right of it a small 2' tall sprout, and on the direct left there is a 1' sprout. The bananas are in a small space & I'm interested in thinning them out. How do I do this without killing off the new plants that will produce fruit? Any general term usage & care would be very helpful
