I'd be looking at ways to increase the temp and create a microclimate - like the citrus growers use smudge pots and wind machines. Maybe black plastic on the ground to increase soil temp, other heat sinks (drums of water in the sun by day) or ? I would consider a propane patio heater? With 47 trees to dig, I'd be more creative about keeping them warm and in the ground. Wrap the trunks in bubble wrap or ?, and let the leaves fend for themselves (you'd lose them, anyway, if y0u dug them up). Get creative!

Thanks for the responses, the weather service has revised to lows upward, with two mornings forecast to be 34, but one can check again in several hours and it will be changed again. The forecast is for five mornings in the 30's, I figure they can stand temps down to around 31, my leaves have already been lost to the biggest frost of the year a few days back. The weather service did not call for frost, and a forecast low of 38. We got down to 31 with heavy frost. Very unusual temps for this time of year, all becasue I got a head start on planting my trees....LOL.
