Transplanting large banana clump

mainelysouthern

I have inherited a large clump of banana trees at a home I recently bought in Charleston, SC. I cut them back after the winter frosts. A few shoots are starting to emerge. I'd like to move this clump and wanted to see what advice is out there. Is it okay to move it now or do I need to wait until next winter? If I wait a week or two, it may be too late since it's getting warm fast.

All I've seen in postings is about pups. I'm concerned about the mother plant. Can I divide the corm in transplanting?

Any other advice...I'm an experienced gardener, but know nothing about bananas!

Thanks!
